Me and My Corner of Nature - Contest/Campaign for Children

The World Wide Fund for Nature Armenian branch (WWF Armenia) and UN Armenia organize the educational campaign “Me and my corner of nature”.

The purpose of the campaign is to develop eco-education of the young and to raise their awareness on environmental issues. The environmental objectives are clearly reflected in the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” adopted by UN member states. It involves 17 global goals including the one relating to the environment. The countries have assumed to implement those goals till 2030 in order to have a better world and a safer planet. To achieve this result, it is essential to form informed and conscious citizens whose activities will contribute to the creation of the world that we want. The campaign particularly aims to raise awareness among the participants about a number of endangered species in Armenia such as the Caucasian leopard, bezoar goat and Armenian mouflon.

In the first phase of the campaign a photo contest-exhibition “Me and my corner of nature” will be held. The participant must be depicted on the photo with his/her favorite corner of the nature in the background. The photo can be a selfie or be taken by someone else.

  1. 12-16 year old schoolchildren from Yerevan and southern regions (Ararat, Vayots Dzor, Syunik) can participate.
  2. Photos can be taken by any device (smartphone, tablet, camera, etc.). The quality of the photo (clarity and size) must be sufficient for printing on A3 paper (the photo resolution is preferable to be at least 150 dpi, the file size no less than 500 KB). The file must be in jpeg format.
  3. Each file must be named after the participant.
  4. The photos will not be accepted if the complete APPLICATION FORM is not attached to it (see below).

Photos and application forms must be sent to media_am@wwfcaucasus.org by May 26.
The selected photos will be exhibited on June 5 within the World Environment Day. The selection will be held by the jury consisting of representatives from different environmental organizations. Their decision will be based on the creativity and original approach of each participant. The authors of the best photos will be awarded.

In the second phase the selected participants are expected to present their proposals about solving the environmental issues.

The authors of the best proposals will participate in an environmental field camp in autumn.
